Three crew members of the detained US vessel MV Seaman Guard Ohio were sent to judicial custody in Palayamkottai Central Jail after their police custody ended today.
Lalit Kumar Gurung, Radhesh Dhar Dwivedi (both Indians) and an UK national, Paul Towers were sent to prison after they were produced before the court after their police custody ended.
The vessel MV Seaman Guard Ohio and its crew are facing charges of transgressing into Indian waters and for possession of arms and ammunition.
The judicial magistrate court allowed a police plea seeking custody of three crew members for interrogation on October 24.
On October 23, 22 of the ship crew were shifted from Palayamkottai to Puzhal Central Jail in Chennai.
Meanwhile, bail petitions that have been filed seeking release of all the 35 crew of the ship in the sessions court is likely to come up for hearing soon.
