Top Singapore officials in Chennai to discuss economic cooperation

Singapore: Top Singapore government officials will call on Tamil Nadu state officials to discuss economic cooperation and opportunities for Singapore companies in the state in a two-day visit to Chennai.

Singapore's Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry S Iswaran will pay a two-day visit to Chennai from Tuesday.

He would also meet Singapore companies in Chennai and leading Indian businessmen in the state, the Singapore Trade and Ministry said in a statement.

Singapore and India have developed strong bilateral relations, it said.

India was rated as the 10th largest trading partner for the city state in 2011 with bilateral trade of Singapore Dollar 35.4 billion, the statement added.

Mr Iswaran would be accompanied by Second Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry Ng How Yue and officials.
