Rameswaram : An alert train driver averted a possible mishap when he stopped the Rameswaram-Chennai Express near Rameswaram after he noticed that the engine shoe had come off.
The train had left Rameswaram station at 5 pm as scheduled and reached Pamban 15 minutes later when the engine shoe came off. But the driver skilfully brought the train to a halt, averting an accident, railway officials said.
The shoe was replaced and the train left Pamban after a delay of about 30 minutes, they said.
