Trio held in doctor's abduction case

Hyderabad: Three persons, including a software professional, have been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction of a city-based medical doctor, for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh, police said.

Yeruka Reddy, Munnagi Shivaiah and Sudi Reddy Durga Reddy, a software engineer at an IT firm in Hi-Tech City here were apprehended from Nuzvid in Krishna district.

The trio, along with their two associates, had kidnapped Dr Ch Sreeharsha Reddy, working at a private hospital in Malakpet here, on September 3, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Y Gangadhar told reporters here.

The doctor was subsequently traced at Nuzvid in Krishna district on September 7, after the abductors set him free.

The trio, facing debts, reportedly told the investigators that they had attempted to kidnap Reddy thrice before September 3 and sought to get Rs 50 lakh from his father and to clear their debts.

The DCP said the trio, after kidnapping the doctor, allegedly tried to misguide the police by moving in Hyderabad and other places with the victim's cell phone to misguide the investigation agencies.

Police are searching the two other accused, he said.
