Coimbatore: Two persons were today arrested and electronic goods valued at Rs 1.5 crore, including cameras and cellphones, were seized from them at the airport in Coimbatore, police said.
The duo - identified as Allauddin Shahul Hameed and Hanifa Ibrahim from Chennai- after alighting from an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, placed four suitcases in the airport toilet and attempted to exit from there around 5 AM, police said.
However, immigration officials, who were noticing their movement, chased and nabbed them and seized the baggage, they said.
The baggage contained 500 imported cameras, 300 imported camera lenses and some laptops and cellphones, all worth Rs 1.5 crore.
Both were handed over to the Central Excise and Customs department personnel, who are questioning them, police added.
