Two arrested in kidnap case in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The police have arrested two kidnappers including a woman who had kidnapped an eight-year-old boy and demanded ransom of Rs 3 crore.

Deputy Commissioner of Police M Ravindranadh Babu told reporters in Vijayawada today that the boy named Geteswara Varmawas was kidnapped on Thursday while on his way to school in Muthyalampadu in the city.

The kidnappers later took the boy to Hyderabad and sent an SMS to his father demanding a ransom of Rs 3 crore.

Initially, father of the boy D Srinivasa Raju was hesitant to report to the police fearing the kidnappers might kill his son. But some his friends got in touch with the Police Commissioner Madhusudhana Reddy on Friday who appointed senior officers to investigate the case under the supervision of DCP.

Police managed to get details of kidnappers by tapping their cell phone and nabbed them in Hyderabad in the early hours today and secured the release of the boy.

The police brought the kidnappers, V Sunitha  (36) and Ch.Eeshwar Chandra Ganesh (46), to the city and produced them before the media.
