Kanchipuram:
Stone idol of a 'Siva linga' and another figure in a meditative posture have been unearthed from the Cheyyar riverbed during sand digging at nearby Kavanthandalam village, officials said
However it was difficult to ascertain the period to which they belonged until Archaelogical department officials, who have been informed of the find, examine it, Collector Hanish Chandra said after inspecting the idols.
The Siva Linga was about two feet height and the other a figurine in a meditative posture.
Officials said the face of the icon in meditative posture has become defaced and so it was hard to make out if it was a "Thapaswin" (saint) or a Goddess in penance
