University Student Allegedly Gangraped in Hyderabad, Two Arrested

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old student at the city-based English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) was allegedly gang-raped on the university premises by a fellow student and another youth, police said today.

One Nitin, studying Journalism at the university and Rajsimha, a former student of the institute, were arrested, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kachiguda Division) S Sudhakar told PTI.

"The alleged incident occurred on the night of October 31 and the girl, who was known to the accused, was apparently drugged and then sexually assaulted at a room on the university premises," the ACP said.

The victim lodged a complaint this morning, Osmania University police station Inspector V Ashok Reddy said.

Based on the victim's complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 376 (g) and 341 for wrongful restraint of the IPC.

She has been sent for medical examination, he added.
