Visakhapatnam: In a major haul, the Anantapuram police seized around 600 kg of ganja, worth around Rs 18.5 lakh and arrested three drug smugglers while they were transporting it in a van on National Highway 16 on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, Anantapuram police intercepted the vehicle which arrived from the Visakhapatnam agency area and seized the contraband.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madhurawada) K Ranga Raju said that three people were arrested and few others would soon be nabbed in connection with this case.
The task force police led by Inspector Tirupati Rao raided some houses in the Kobbarithota area and nabbed B Yerrayamma (33), T Ramanamma (35) and C Savitri (40) for selling the drug to students and others.
