Chennai:
An 18-year-old woman, travelling by train from Coimbatore to her hometown in Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly raped by a co-passenger, early on Sunday in Tamil Nadu's Salem district.
The woman, who works at a textile factory in Coimbatore, accidentally dropped her purse outside the train when it made an unscheduled stop near Salem.
When she alighted the train to collect her purse, a co-passenger followed her and dragged her to nearby bushes where he allegedly raped her.
A case of rape has been registered and the 24-year-old accused has been arrested.
The woman has been sent to a home after medical examination.
