Coimbatore: The women construction workers affiliated to AITUC in Coimbatore on Monday forwarded a memorandum to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, seeking to extend the nine months maternity leave with pay, being given to female government employees, to them.
Holding banners, nearly 100 women workers, welcomed the announcement of maternity leave with pay for nine months, made by the Chief Minister and requested her to extend the facility to the woman construction workers also.
The memorandum addressed to the chief minister was routed through the District Collector in Coimbatore.
