Chennai: Nine persons, including eight independent candidates, filed their nominations for the December 4 by-poll for the Yercaud (ST) constituency today, taking the total to 21.
A release from the office of Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said that nine persons filed their papers today, the fifth day of nominations which started on November 9.
The by-poll was necessitated following the death of sitting AIADMK MLA C Perumal, whose wife Saroja is the party candidate for the election. DMK has fielded V Maran.
Both of them have already filed their nominations.
