Indian tennis players are mentally strong but they need to improve their fitness to match their competitors from West, feels veteran tennis player Vijay Amritraj.
"Our tennis players are mentally strong. However, they are physically poor when compared to the players in Western countries," Amritraj said.
He said especially the new comers need to keep themselves fit both in mind and physic so as to play for longer duration.
Praising new kid Somdev Devvarman and woman ace player Sania Mirza, Amritraj said the standard of Indian tennis has increased over the years at the world level.
Amritraj also added that Indian cricket team is one of the best in the world and under the captainship of M S Dhoni, the team has been performing excellently.
The tennis legend was here to launch a week-long free consultation programme for knee patients at the Apollo Knee Clinics offered by the Apollo Hospitals group.
