Clijsters wins WTA Championships final
Doha: Kim Clijsters of Belgium won the WTA Championships final, beating world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, on Sunday.

Clijsters, 27, showed enormous mental strength over the past two days, winning Saturday's semi-final despite being involved in a car crash on the way to the venue.

And she showed no sign of any after affects as she powered her way to take her third career title at the season-ender on her second match point.

Wozniacki had been bidding to avenge herself against Clijsters who beat her in the semi-finals en route to a successful defence of the US Open title seven weeks ago.

This was world number four Clijsters' first tournament since their New York meeting, following a foot operation.

The Dane finishes the season as the world number one without winning a major title.

Clijsters won her fifth WTA title of the year, following triumphs in Brisbane, Miami, Cincinnati and the US Open - the only player who won more titles than Clijsters this year was Wozniacki - who won six.
