Commonwealth Games security lagging behind
New Delhi: The US, UK, Australia and Canada have warned their citizens to be alert in Delhi's marketplaces amid rising concerns over security for the Commonwealth Games.

Just 4 months to go for the Commonwealth Games and Delhi still looks rather unprepared. Security systems are not in place and there are rising concerns regarding the Games venues and travel plans for athletes and officials.

The Commonwealth Games Group of Ministers which includes Jaipal, Gill, Maken are pushing back the deadline for handing over Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to security agencies by a month.

The original deadline was September 2009, which was moved to January 2010, and then further pushed to April 2010.

Anti- chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear attacks plan budget has been whittled down from 500 crore to 12 crore.

To add to the panic there is no access control in main venues and no security gadgets have been put in place as yet. The perimeter security is yet to be installed and the command and control room too is not in place.
