CWG cycling test event on August 29

New Delhi: An international race, approved by game's governing body UCI, will be held on August 29 as a test event for the cycling competition of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Branded as Gitanjali Tour de Delhi -- Cyclothon 2010, will see participation by 16 international teams including Germany, Holland and Belgium.

The race will have "Burn Fat, Not Fuel" as its motto and will follow the route, earmarked for all cycling races for the Games.

Apart from the 100-km Elite international race for the international participants, a 65-km race will see competition among Indian cyclists from 22 states.

The best riders from the national teams will receive training for participation in the Games.

The race and selection of riders will be governed by International Cycling Unions (UCI).

The race, offering a prize money of euro 25,000, will be listed under the category 1.2 of the Asia Tour, according to a press release.
