New Delhi:
Under attack for her government's tardy preparations for next year's Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon to give a status report of various projects being implemented to enhance the city's infrastructure ahead of the big sports event.
Sources said Dikshit has sought an appointment with Singh to brief him about the preparations being undertaken by her government for the event in the backdrop of criticism that some of the crucial infrastructure projects will miss the October 2010 deadline.
However, Dikshit described seeking of an appointment with the PM as a routine affair and said "let's see what happens. Will tell you later."
She was asked whether she was meeting the Prime Minister.
Dikshit has been facing flak for delay in construction of virtually every infrastructure project being undertaken by Delhi government for the big sports event which is less than a year away.
Miffed with the slow pace of preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennel had last month sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention to put things in order.
Sources said an official of the Prime Minister's office visited various project sites last week to take stock of progress.
