Chandigarh: Pune Warriors captain Yuvraj Singh has confirmed that Sourav Ganguly will play in the game against Deccan Chargers today.
Ganguly was signed by the Warriors as replacement for Ashish Nehra after the former went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions for the fourth edition. He was roped in at the last moment and many were hoping that the former India captain will turn things around for the Pune side, which is currently languishing at the bottom of the points tally.
Ganguly has not played for the Warriors so far, although he has been with the team for the last two matches.
Yuvraj said Ganguly has a good chance of playing against Chargers in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
"He (Sourav) will be playing in the next game," Yuvraj told reporters at a felicitation ceremony here on Monday.
Yuvraj had earlier said that Ganguly did not feature in their last two matches as he needed more time for preparation. "I have never seen him prepare like this even for a Test match," Yuvraj had said.
On his team's poor run in the IPL, Yuvraj said: "The talent is definitely there and the team could have won three more games. But that's the way Twenty20 is and hopefully, we should be able to win our remaining four games."
