New Delhi:
India's ace shooter Gagan Narang may skip October's Commonwealth Games, saying he was demotivated after being denied the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
Narang, who became the first shooter to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, has said that he may not participate at the Commonwealth Games this year.
The 27-year old who returned to the capital on Friday morning after winning Bronze at the World Championships has been disappointed for the last week since missing out on the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for the 3rd straight year.
"Well, I am quite dissapointed and really don't know if I have the motivation to continue or even shoot at the Commonwealth Games, and I have to take a break at the moment. Yes, I need a break to find a little motivation to continue," Narang said.
Narang had slammed the selection criteria, saying the country's highest sporting honour seemed to be decided more on the basis of public and media perception than the athletes' performance.
National sports awards selection committee headed by P T Usha met on July 30 and decided to bestow the Khel Ratna award to ace shuttler Saina Nehwal.
