Kolkata:
Indian coach Lokesh Chand has been roped in by the Iraqi Archery Federation to look after their senior side.
Chand, who was with the panel of archery coaches for the Commonwealth Games, took charge of the Iraqi senior side to develop the standard of the Olympic sport in that country, Archery Association of India (AAI) secretary general Paresh Nath Mukherjee said.
"The (Iraqi) side is currently camping in Syria. This is really a good news that an Indian coach has been hired to develop the sport in Iraq. This speaks high of Indian archery," Mukherjee said.
An NIS qualified Chand, who hails from Delhi, took charge of his new assignment in July.
Chand was last with the Secunderabad centre of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
