Israel's Peer wins Tashkent Open

Tashkent: Israel's Shahar Peer won her second WTA singles title in the space of a week with a 6-3, 6-4 success over local hope Akgul Amanmuradova in the final of the Tashkent Open on Sunday.

Peer, who overcame Italy's Alberta Brianti to land the Guangzhou Open in China last week, has enjoyed a welcome return to form having not won on the WTA tour since 2006.

Up to this month the 22-year-old's claim to fame this year was being denied a visa to compete in the Dubai Open.

The second seed's Tashkent victory was her fifth overall title.
