J&K ready to host CWG Queens Baton Relay

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has put in place special arrangements in the valley as the state gears up to welcome the Commonwealth Games' Queen's Baton Relay here on June 29.

"All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the security of the baton. We are working day and night to make the gala event a big success," a Jammu and Kashmir Youth Services spokesman said.

On arrival, the baton will be received by Jammu and Kashmir Science and Technology Minister Aga Ruhullah at the airport," the spokesman said.

Before reaching Srinagar, the baton will be received at Lakhanpur by the Sports Minister R S Chib on June 28.

"A special cultural programme depicting the culture of the the three regions of the state will be organised," the spokesman said.

The relay will culminate at SKICC where the baton will be received by Finance Minister A R Rather.
