Paris:
Jelena Jankovic has beaten Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the French Open for the third time in her career.
The fourth-seeded Jankovic rallied three times from a service break down in the second set on Wednesday and closed out the victory when Shvedova double-faulted.
Jankovic, a Serb, also reached the semifinals at Roland Garros in 2007 and 2008, then lost each time.
Shvedova was the first woman from Kazakhstan to ever play a Grand Slam quarterfinal and the only unseeded player among the quarterfinalists.
