Jeev tied 113th after Round one

Texas: Jeev Milkha Singh's chances of making the cut for weekend action seem bleak as he is in the bottom heap of the leader-board with a three-over 73 in the opening round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational.

The seasoned Indian pro is tied for the 113th spot in the USD 6.2 million event.

It was an ominous start to the proceedings as Jeev, who played his back-nine first, stumbled to a bogey on the 10th hole.

He dropped three more shots on the 12th, 15th and 17th but a birdie on the 16th left him three-over at the turn.

The front-nine was slightly better as he mixed two birdies with an equal number of bogeys but it was just not enough to undo the damage done earlier.

The Indian will now have to produce a vastly improved performance to make the cut.

At the top, it was a three-way tie for the lead with Americans Jeff Overton, Jason Bohn and Blake Adams carding identical 63s.

Englishman Brian Davis was the nest best-placed at fourth with a 64 in the opening round.
