Seoul:
China's Lu Xiaojun set a world record in the men's 77kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Lu lifted 174kg in the snatch, beating the previous record by one kilo, and hoisted 204kg in clean and jerk for a record total of 378kg at the championships in Goyang, just outside Seoul.
The previous record of 377kg was set by Plamen Jelyaskov of Bulgaria at the 2002 world championships in Doha.
Tigran G. Martirosyan of Armenia took silver but was 8kg behind. Chinese weighlifter Su Dajin won the bronze at 365kg.
