Now, Narendra Modi has slammed the PM over the Commonwealth Games. Speaking at function to inaugurate a new building in the civil hospital complex in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Chief Minister said that the union government doesn't seem to be interested in development.
"They just seem to be interested in Commonwealth Games. And you have seen what embarrassment we have to undergo because of the mess in Commonwealth Games...now the Prime Minister himself has to carry out the mopping up of the venues, but nothing will happen," Modi said to a crowd of thousands.
"CWG people had four years to get the venues ready, but they are still struggling. They should have given it to Ahmedabad (Municipal Corporation), which would have built those stadiums in time," Modi said.
Venues to be used for the Games have missed a fourth deadline set by the government. They were meant to be completed by August 31. Instead, blaming the rain, Jaipal Reddy, who heads a Group of Ministers supervising the Games, said another two weeks of preps are required. (CWG: 4th deadline missed for venues)
