Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday congratulated the Indian football team on winning the Nehru Cup International Football Tournament and said the victory would inspire sportspersons in the country.
"Congratulations on your remarkable win last evening. It was a magnificent performance and the whole country is proud of you," he said in a message to the Indian team.
"The victory, I am sure will inspire sportsmen and women across the country," Singh said.
India yesterday defeated Syria 6-5 through penalty shootout to win the Nehru Cup International Football Tournament for the second consecutive time at the Ambedkar stadium.
