New Delhi: Keeping up its promise, the Tourism Ministry announced more incentives like Golden Triangle tour and stay in luxury hotels for Commonwealth Games (CWG) medal winners.
The ministry has already offered free travel in luxury trains including Maharaja Express, Golden Chariot Express and Royal Rajasthan Express for Indian medal winners.
Tourism Minister Kumari Selja has written to all medal winners informing them about the latest offer and thanked all the stakeholders for encouraging sportspersons who have attained new heights in their career by winning 38 Gold, 27 Silver and 36 Bronze medals at the CWG 2010.
The ministry in association with Hotel Association of India is offering two nights and three days hotel packages at 27 locations across the country at 48 member hotels like Taj, Oberoi, ITC and Leela for the Gold Medal winners.
In association with Indian Association of Tour Operators, the ministry has offered Golden Triangle tour for medal winners. The tour for three nights and four days includes hotel accommodation with breakfast, transport and site seeing.
The Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Delhi circuit is known as Golden Triangle.
Tourism Ministry had earlier announced complimentary travel packages for the medal winners and the coach or one companion to travel on luxury trains in association with state governments of Rajasthan, Karnataka and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
The luxury trains will take the visitors across various tourist destinations in royal style. All costs including travel, accommodation, food and sightseeing are covered in these trips which can be extend up to seven nights.
The sportspersons can avail of these trips anytime up to March 31, 2012 depending upon the availability of accommodation and the choice of luxury train given by the medal winner. These incentives range from Rs 1.20 lakhs to Rs 3.20 lakhs per person according to the category of medals won.
