Peer beats Brianti in Guangzhou final
Guangzhou, China: Fifth-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel beat Italy's Alberta Brianti 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to win the Guangzhou Open - her first WTA Tour title in three years.

Both women got to the finals in this southern Chinese city without losing a set, and eighth-seeded Brianti was playing in her first final on the tour. Peer's last championships were in Prague, Istanbul and Pattaya, Thailand - all in 2006.

The Israeli got to the finals by beating China's Peng Shuai, who withdrew in the second with a wrist injury.

Brianti, ranked No.85 in the world, on Saturday upset seventh-seeded Ayumi Morita of Japan 6-3, 7-5.
