Permanent Table Tennis training centre to be set up Yamuna Sports Complex

Permanent Table Tennis training centre to be set up Yamuna Sports Complex
New Delhi: To ensure that the Commonwealth Games' table tennis venue does not go unutilised, the national federation is planning to set up a permanent training centre at the Yamuna Sports Complex in New Delhi.

According to a source in the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), they will write to the Sports Authority of India and the Delhi Development Authority to seek requisite permission.

"We are planning to send the proposal to the DDA and SAI for their permission so that we can set up a permanent training centre at the Yamuna Sports Complex. The players will get the benefit of world class facilities," a source said.

In the absence of a proper training venue in the national capital, the Indian paddlers had to prepare for the Commonwealth Games at the Balewadi Sports Complex, near Pune.

"If the proposal materialises, we can also hold the national camps here. For example, before Commonwealth Games NIS Patiala campus was not ready and so we had to train the players in Pune. That will not happen then," the source said.
