Sahara felicitates World Cup medal winning shooters
Lucknow: Sahara India Pariwar on Tuesday felicitated Indian shooters Tejaswini Sawant, Gagan Narang and Asher Noria, who recently made the country proud by winning medals at the 50th ISSF World Shooting Championship in Munich, Germany.

Apart from an incentive of Rs five lacs each to Sawant and Narang and Rs three lacs to Noria, Sahara India Pariwar Managing Worker and Chairman, Subrata Roy presented appreciation certificates to the trio in presence of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president, Avtar Singh Sethi.

Sawant created history by winning the gold in the 50 meter rifle prone event at the World Shooting Championship in Munich, while Narang bagged bronze in the 10 meter air rifle event and also became the first Indian to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

Noria, meanwhile, clinched the gold in the men's junior double trap event in Munich.

"We take great pleasure in offering our warmest congratulations to all the shooters who kept the Indian flag high at the prestigious 50th ISSF World Championship 2010 held at Munich," Roy said during the felicitation ceremony.

"May they continue to win fresh laurels for the country in the international sporting arena."

Expressing his gratitude, NRAI president Sethi said, "It is because of Sahara's support that our shooters have done extremely well and have won two gold and one bronze medal and two quota places during the World Championship.

"It will inspire the leading shooters to bring more laurels to the nations during the forthcoming Commonwealth games and the London Olympics."

Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said, "I am grateful to Sahara India Pariwar for encouraging and motivating me through this association for better performance in the upcoming prestigious meet."
