New Delhi: The Sports Authority of India handed over five of the nine stadia which it was preparing for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games to the Organising Committee here on Friday.
"SAI has today handed over its five stadia namely Karni Singh Shooting Range, Dhayan Chand Hockey Stadium, Gymnastics stadium, the cycling Velodrome and the Wrestling stadium to venue administrators appointed by OC," a source said.
The stadia for the Delhi Games, which missed several construction deadlines, were supposed to be handed over to the OC on August 1.
Four more stadia namely SP Mukherjee Swimming complex, Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium, Yamuna Sports Complex and the Siri Fort complex will be handed over on Monday, the source said.
"Rest of stadia of SAI will be handed over on 9th August," he said.
