Saina asked to submit medical proof for skipping tourney

Saina asked to submit medical proof for skipping tourney
Ace shuttler Sania Nehwal was on Thursday shot off a letter by the International Badminton Federation (IBF) to furnish documents regarding her ligament injury following her pull-out from the Super Series Masters Final in Chinese Taipei starting next month.

Sania had earlier skipped this month's Indian Open Grand Prix in Hyderabad because of the injury which she sustained during the Hong Kong Super Series final.

"Yes, we have received a letter from IBF and we forwarded it to Sania. It is not a big deal, it is just a general procedure followed by IBF," Badminton Federation of India joint secretary Punnaiah Choudhary said.

Sania's father, Harvir Singh, also confirmed the development and said they would be sending all the medical reports to IBF on Friday.

"Yesterday, we sent a letter to IBF through BAI informing them that she (Saina) won't be able to participate in the event because of the injury. The IBF accepted the letter and sent a reply today asking for medical proofs regarding the injury.

"So, we will be sending all her scanned medical documents to IBF tomorrow,." he said.

Sania had participated in the last two editions of the tournament.
