Guangzhou: India's hopes of a Gold medal from badminton ended in disappointment as ace shuttler Saina Nehwal crashed out of the Asian Games after losing her quarter final match in Guangzhou.
Saina, who was one of the favourites to claim Gold after her triumphant performance at the 2010 Commonwealth Games lost to Hong Kong's Yin Pui Yip.
The world No 3 player lost in three sets 8-21, 21-8, 19-21 in her women's singles match.
Her opponent Yin is the silver medallist from the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
Although she lost the first set tamely, Saina bounced back in the second to take the match into the decider.
In the final set, both the players fought hard for supremacy, but eventually Saina lost out after a close finish.
