Saina, Sania eye Asiad medals
Hyderabad: Commonwealth Games medal winners Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza on Tuesday said they are leaving no stones unturned to prepare for the Asian Games and hope to do well in China next month.

"We had a great Commonwealth Games. We are now preparing for the Asian Games and plan to win as many as many medals as possible again, bring laurels to India and Hyderabad as well," said Sania, who won silver in the tennis event of the Games.

Sania, badminton star Saina and her mentor and chief national coach Pullela Gopichand, brand ambassadors of Andhra Pradesh Tourism, were felicitated by the department on their success in the CWG.

Echoing the sentiment of Tourism and Information Minister J Geeta Reddy, Sania said she is a true Hyderabadi and feels proud about it.

Saina too expressed confidence that she would do well in the Asian Games.

"It has been an amazing journey for me. My family did not expect me do so well. I am really happy that I joined badminton and I am performing well. I thank Gopi sir who is very lucky for me," she said.

Sharing two "special moments of her life," she said she was very disappointed after losing in the Quarterfinals in the last Olympics.

"I was really aiming to win that match. I still don't understand how I lost the match. It was very disappointing," she said.

The second special moment was winning the gold medal in the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games.

"I was down in the match and I really wanted to win desperately," she recalled.

The AP tourism proved to be lucky for her as she signed as brand ambassador just ahead of CWG, Saina said.

Geeta Reddy said the state is proud of the players and wished that they win more medals in future.
