Glasgow, Scotland:
Olympic silver medallist cyclist Ross Edgar and star swimmer Hannah Miley were on Wednesday named in the 191-member strong Scotland squad, including 83 women athletes, for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Scotland athletes will compete in 16 out of the 17 disciplines, leaving netball.
Edgar had won a silver at Beijing Olympics and Miley has won numerous international titles in swimming. The two athletes have a total of 30 medals between them.
Also in the squad are several Commonwealth Games medallists such as David Carry, Caitlin McClatchey, Robbie Renwick, Kris Gilchrist and Andy Hunter.
14-year-old diver Grace Reid, who finished fourth at the European Championships last week in the 3m springboard individual event, is the youngest member of the squad.
While 72-year old legendary bowls player Willie Wood, who will be making a record eighth Commonwealth Games appearance, is the oldest athlete in the Scotland squad.
Melbourne Games gold medallist lawn bowler player Paul Foster is also in the squad, announced by the Commonwealth Games Scotland.
Shooter Ian Marsden will make his seventh Games appearance. He was a medallist from 1990 and 1994 and was the flag carrier for Scotland at the Opening Ceremony in 2006.
Bronze medallists from Melbourne Games Susan Egelstaff (badminton), Adam Cox (gymnastics; high bar), Kate Cullen and James McCallum (track cycling) and double bronze medallist in weightlifting Tommy Yule all securing return places on the team.
"Our selection process has been rigorous and robust throughout, and although the standards set have been tough, our athlete's have clearly risen to the challenge as shown by the increase in the numbers achieving them since the last Games," CGS chairman Michael Cavanagh said.
"However making the team is just the first step on the journey, now will come the real test for the athletes of performing to their potential in Delhi," he added.
