New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was not invited to a major function to launch sale of tickets for the Commonwealth Games on Friday, but she refused to see it as an 'insult' to her.
"I was not invited to the event. Nobody informed me about it. I just came to know about it from you (the media)" Dikshit said when asked why she was absent at the ceremony. The function to launch the ticket sale was attended by Lt Governor Tejender Khanna, Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi and city Mayor Prithvi Raj Sawhney.
When asked whether she felt insulted by the Organising Committee as city government has been playing a key role in preparation for the mega sporting event, Dikshit said "I don't call it insulting at all. I have my priorities. I have been busy looking after the preparations of my government."
"I am doing my duty. I am into my work. My priority is to ensure completion of all the projects," the Chief Minister said.
When asked why Dikshit was not invited to the function, Organising Committee spokesman Lalit Bhanot played it down, saying "it is just that we invited Khanna and the Mayor."
"We have been getting full support from her (Dikshit). It is not an issue at all. We all are working together," Bhanot said.
The ticketing website -- www.tickets.cwgdelhi2010.org and a call centre facility 1800-200-1294 to book the tickets were launched at the function.
Ticket sale in international markets began in November 2009 while sale to sponsors started last month.
