Somdev Devvarman
Somdev Devvarman will lead India's fight in the tennis court in the absence of the seasoned Leander Paes and doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna.

Somdev delivered on the expectations of the nation by winning the Men's singles Gold at the Commonwealth Games.

Somdev Devvarman is the highest ranked Indian tennis player in the world today and became the first Indian to crack the top 100 on the ATP men's singles rankings, 11 years after Leander Paes did it in 1999.

An integral part of the Indian Davis Cup team now, Somdev caught the fancy of an entire nation when he managed to enter the final of the Indian Open tennis tournament in Chennai in 2009. Although he failed to win his first ATP title, Somdev instantly became the toast of the country. He went on to reach the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time in 2009 qualifying for the US Open and managed to reach the 2nd round before bowing out.

Since then he has notched important victories to improve his singles ranking and is now one of the brightest medal hopes for India in 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
