Somdev falters at final step
New Delhi: Somdev Devvarman failed to make the main draw of the ATP BMW Open after losing the third and final round of the qualifying event to Alexandre Sidorenko in Munich, Germany on Monday.

Second seed Somdev lost tamely 1-6 2-6 to his French opponent in one hour and six minutes. Somdev got six ranking points and euro 650 for making the third round.

He had two opportunities to break Sidorenko but could utilise none and dropped his serve twice to surrender the first set.

Somdev grabbed the only chance he got in the second set but struggled to hold his serve. He was broken thrice by Sidorenko and that was enough for the French player to seal his place in the main draw.
