Charlottesville:
India's Somdev Devvarman sailed into the singles quarter-finals but teen Yuki Bhambri crashed out of the ATP Challenger event in Charlottesville here.
Somdev asserted his supremacy over Australia's Greg Jones, whom he had beaten in the Commonwealth Games final to win gold medal, with a 6-3 6-3 win in the second round.
The second seed Indian will now fight it out with another Australian Chris Guccione for a spot in the semifinals.
However, it was all over for qualifier Yuki, who put up a brave fight against sixth seed Marinko Matosevic before losing 6-7 (2) 2-6 in his second round.
Somdev advanced to the doubles quarter-finals along with partner Treat Conrad Huey with a 6-3 7-5 win over local wild cards Alex Bogomolov Jr. and Alex Kuznetsov in the opening round of the USD 50,000 hard court event.
