New York:
Indian tennis star Somdev Devvarman is just a step away from qualifying for his first singles Grand Slam appearance, following his victory over Netherlands' Igor Sijsling in the second round of the US Open qualifiers.
Somdev beat the world number 305 in three sets - 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 - in a little over two hours. He's now slated to play Poland's Jerzy Jano-wicz in the final qualifying round on Friday.
Earlier this year, Somdev had come close to qualifying for the singles draw in the Australian Open but stumbled at the final hurdle.
