Tiger Woods released from Florida hospital: mayor
Miami: Golf superstar Tiger Woods was released from a Florida hospital Friday after suffering facial lacerations in a car accident, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn said.

Media reports, citing the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), said Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and then drove into a tree after leaving his property in the Isleworth community in Windermere, a suburb of Orlando.

"I understand that there was some facial lacerations, he was taken to Health Central Hospital, where he was treated and I'm told that he was released," Bruhn told CNN. Billionaire earner Woods is global sports icon

The golfer's agent, Mark Steinberg, earlier told CNBC television that Woods "is fine."

He had been transported to the hospital in Ocoee in "serious condition," the FHP was quoted as saying.

Woods, who was driving a 2009 black Cadillac Escalade, suffered facial lacerations in the accident which took place at about 2:30 am, according to Bruhn.

Orlando television station WESH 2 said the crash was still under investigation and charges could be pending.

Superstar Woods, a 14-time major winner, was set to play his last tournament of the year at the Chevron World Challenge at Thousand Oaks, California, December 3-6.
