New Delhi:
Elin Nordergren, wife of Tiger Woods, is now at the centre of a storm. Did the former Swedish model actually chase her husband with a golf stick after hearing about an alleged affair or did she go out and rescue him from his car crash?
Elin, a bikini model from Sweden was first introduced to Woods in 2001. She was working as a nanny for Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik. Woods proposed to her in 2004 and they were married in 2005.
Both are intensely private, so much so, that their personal yacht is called Privacy. Details of their two children Sam and Charlie, are made available only through Tiger's website.
His version of the Friday car crash was also posted on the website where he spoke of how his wife had acted courageously in rescuing him.
However celebrity gossip site TMZ which made a name for itself by breaking the news of Michael Jackson's death is the one that's making sure Tiger gets no respite with several exclusives about the story.
The website alleges that Elin's version of events is the one which doesn't add up. She told investigators that she used a golf cart to get to the crashed SUV, while at another time she said she ran out of the house when she heard a crash and then returned to get a golf club to smash the window.
All the lack of clarity of just how and why Tiger crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree leads to the speculation that he and his wife were having a heated argument over an alleged affair.
Rachel Uchitel, the New York socialite who has been linked with the world number 1 golfer, has denied any relationship but has gone ahead and hired a lawyer to supposedly handle defamation charges.
Woods, meanwhile, has pulled out of a golf tournament that he was due to host this week, setting off yet another debate on whether celebrities are entitled to their privacy or whether they owe their fans an explanation.
