Johannesburg: Spain's victorious football team left South Africa late on Sunday, just hours after winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup in extra time against the Netherlands.

Andres Iniesta's goal at Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium clinched Spain's fourth straight 1-0 victory in South Africa and made the team only the third to be world and European champion at the same time.

The new World Champions will arrive in Madrid on Monday morning, where later they'll be honoured with an open-top bus parade through the streets of the capital.

They're also expected to meet King Juan Carlos of Spain at Zarzuela Palace.

The team will then finally join thousands of fans in the Puente del Rey area of the city for a victory party.

A huge stage was being constructed for the event, so fans could gather to pay tribute to their idols.

The welcome to the victorious team in Spain promises to be a really grand affair.
