Srinagar:
A 60-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in the frontier district of Kupwara, police said.
Ghulam Mohammad Mir consumed some poisonous substance at his Zanareshi residence in Kralpora, 85 kms from Srinagar, and later died in the Sub-District Hospital, a police spokesman said.
He said the motive behind his extreme step was not known immediately.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old girl also consumed some poisonous substance in an attempt to commit suicide at her residence at Rikipora-Beerwa , in Budgam district.
The girl was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar and is undergoing treatment, the spokesman added.
