Srinagar: A 30-year-old woman, a school teacher, was injured when she was attacked with acid by a young man on Srinagar airport road today, police said. She suffered burn injuries on the face and arm and was admitted to the SMHS hospital; her condition is said to be "stable".
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him. The police spokesman said the motive behind the attack was not immediately known.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir, Syed Afad-ul-Mujtaba visited the victim at the hospital and reportedly assured her family that the police would ensure she gets justice at the earliest. He has ordered that the investigation of the case be pursued expeditiously.
