Srinagar:
Two persons were arrested after police recovered large quantity of food grain meant for distribution through public distribution system from a shop in Baramulla district of Kashmir.
A police team conducted a raid on the store at Gulnar Colony in Baramulla and recovered 165 bags of rice, five bags of flour and four bags of sugar of Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CAPD) department, meant for public distribution, an official spokesman said.
The raid was conducted after a complaint regarding misappropriation of CAPD ration supply, the spokesman said.
Two persons identified as Bashir Ahmad Kanroo and Mohammad Yaseen Kanroo, both resident of Khawaja Bagh locality of old town Baramulla, were arrested.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the government ration has been inappropriately sold by officials of CADP department to the traders for earning illegal profits.
