Police has initiated investigation in the case of two deaths after consuming hooch in Surat.
Surat:
Two young men died and another one suffered partial loss of sight after consuming country-made liquor at Limbayat locality in Surat, police said on Tuesday.
All three of them had together consumed the country-made liquor at a dealer's place in Neol village in Surat district last Thursday. They had also brought the liquor for consumption at their homes in Limbayat locality, police added.
"Two days later, Kishan Bhadane, 22, was admitted to a private hospital after his health deteriorated. He died during treatment. His friend, Krishna Wagh, 22, also fell ill the same day and died at a private hospital a day later on August 21," police said.
The third victim, Bhimrao Salunkhe, 23, approached a private doctor with complaint of partial loss of vision yesterday, they added.
"When doctor inquired, he told him about the consumption of country-made liquor he had purchased from Neol village along with two other friends. He told the doctor that his two friends died after that," Limbayat police inspector BM Parmar said.
The incident came to light after the doctor informed this to police.
Police from Limbayat and Kadodara police stations have initiated investigation in the case along with the crime branch police, though no arrests have been made so far in this connection, Mr Parmar said.
