Surat:
A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Amroli area in Surat, while she was playing near her house, police said on Saturday.
"Jitu Sawai (54), an embroidery worker, on Friday managed to lure a seven-year-old girl by offering guava. He took her to a vacant place and raped her," they said.
"After raping the girl, he left the victim near her house and fled away from the spot," they said, adding, medical examination of the minor confirmed rape.
The accused has been arrested and investigations are under way, they added.
