11 persons have died due to swine flu in the state so far with over 300 persons being infected from the 'seasonal flu', the Tamil Nadu government said today.
While 319 persons were affected due to the flu, 183 have been treated and discharged and another 103 persons were undergoing treatment in government and select private hospitals, it said.
Though it was a 'seasonal flu', the state government had taken all precautionary steps and therefore its impact in the state had been minimum, it said.
While four lakh tamiflu tablets were stocked, six government labs and 13 private ones had been notified as testing centres with examination done free of cost at the former.
The government was also carrying out awareness and monitoring at places where people gather in large numbers, such as airport and railway stations, it said, adding a Chief Secretary-led panel was conducting weekly review to take stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar held a review meeting with his officials to take stock of the situation today.
